How to Access the Meter Reading on a Copier. Most copiers are leased out instead of sold. Some leases are structured on a usage basis, with end users paying for the machine, its consumables and service on a per-page basis. To support this, most Canon copiers have meters that measure how many pages have been printed. Technicians check these meters to determine billable usage. You can check the meter yourself to find out much you are using your copier.
